GMF Steel Group was honored to be selected as a part of the team to deliver the iconic new Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Hotel. This project used an innovative method known as “Integrated Fabrication Delivery” in collaboration with Walter P. Moore. This approach included Walter P. Moore completing detail drawings at the same time they were completing the final design, which expedited shop drawings, reduced the quantity of RFIs, and ultimately cut valuable time out of the typical steel detailing and fabrication duration. This 55,256 square feet Library and Events Center boasts heavy interior columns with 1.75″ thick moment connection plates at girder beam attachments and a tilting perimeter steel column system that supports the integrated precast and glass panel systems. The Events Center and Library are only a short 6-feet apart from their closest points leaving logistical challenges for the erection team.
